Dr. Ernesto Sirolli is one of the world’s leading experts on economic development. He started working in the field of international aid in Africa in 1971 and has since worked in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, Latin America and Asia in projects that promote local entrepreneurship and local self-determination.

Today, Ernesto resides in California, where he was invited to establish the Sirolli Institute, a social enterprise that teaches entrepreneurs to form passionate teams capable of transforming dreams into viable enterprises. He is an author of two books, “Ripples from the Zambezi,” a best-seller used today by economic development professionals across the world, and “How to Start a Business and Ignite Your Life,” a book dedicated to would-be entrepreneurs. His TED Talk, “Shut Up and Listen,” has been translated in 31 languages and downloaded more than 2.8 million times (and counting).

Ernesto received the 2016 IOEE International Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship Education at the House of Lords in London, and earned a Laurea di Dottore in Political Sciences from Rome University in 1976 and a PhD in Local Enterprise Facilitation from Murdoch University in Australia in 2004.
